Create Greater Revenues with E-Learning Syndication on a Learning Management System
In the not so distant past, when e-learning tools like learning management systems were purely experimental, people who wanted to create instructional material for training, school, and/or financial purposes, created paper-based material that was subject to the whims and profiteering of the publishing industry.
Trainers might have thrown a few video or audio aids into the mix, often willy-nilly.
Of course, the publishing industry is still in business.
And the idea of developing and selling instructional material is still enthralling for many people.
Furthermore, the traditional, paper-based form of instructional material continues to be difficult and expensive.
Textbook price levels have risen to dizzying new heights, although authors do not see most of the profits. In the past twenty years, textbook fees have outpaced inflation 2-to-1, according to a Government Accountability Office report.
Numbers aside, the effects on students of higher education are obvious. The high price of textbooks is enough to deter students paying their way through college from entering classes where they will have to shell out hundreds of dollars on one textbook.
When all of these factors of the downturn of the textbook industry are combined, the picture is clear for paper-based instructional material developers–and it’s not pretty.
For many developers of instructional material, elearning is the new exciting medium. Learning management systems (LMSs) and other elearning tools provide content developers with the tools to give their learning material a unique flavor. Simple video and audio tools, screen recording, podcast creators, and animation tools are just a few of the possibilities for exciting learning content available. Web 2.0 tools can be integrated to provide students with the most interactive content possible.
Unlike when your textbook is published, when your elearning content is put on the market, you maintain full control over its use.
Of course, even course creators with the most expertise in their field require time and preparation to get their learning content ready for uploading to an online courseware platform. But the actual migration of your content should be easy, and oftentimes it is free of charge.
